"Ron Welty, formerly of The Offspring, is with his new band currently working on their new record. Here are 3 demo songs to tide you over while the record is being completed. The songs here are demos and will change before the final recording of the record we just wanted to give you a sneak peak. Check back soon as the band will be posting video of them in the studio."
"This is from their website:- "Steady Ground formed in a European hotel room in 2001. Bored and forced indoors from the cold of the European summer, Ron Welty, the drummer, and George Squiers the monitor engineer for The Offspring, started putting songs together. George, residing in Tucson, Arizona (no one really knows why) and Ron in Orange County, California, had been touring together since 1995. (George is currently doing monitors for the Chili Peppers). In need of a singer they hooked up with Aaron Pointon from San Diego, formerly the front man for the band Bluespring. Recently, Steady Ground has hooked up with Guitarist Doug Osterkamp, a long time band mate with Ron in Spinning Fish."
As of now, Ron Welty is no longer a member of The Offspring. “After more than 15 great years with The Offspring I've decided to leave to devote all my energies on a new project called Steady Ground. I wish Dexter, Noodles and Greg the best of luck moving forward and it's time for me to focus on my own thing,“ said Ron.
The Offspring have hooked up with their friend Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, The Vandals) to play on the new record which will still be released this year. Dexter says ”After being together so long it will be weird doing stuff without Ron, but we are really looking forward to putting this new record out. We wish him the best.
